A corridor you walk inside, not around
The Rainbow Feather Tunnel is a walkable corridor built from oversized feathers arching overhead, so the visitor is inside the piece rather than looking at it from outside. That inside experience is the whole point: a feather tunnel makes a path into a photograph, which is why it earns dwell time where a statue only earns a glance. The feathers are arranged so the arch closes overhead but leaves a clear walking width, and the spacing is tuned so light comes through the gaps rather than blocking the sky completely. A tunnel that is too dense feels like a closed tube; one too open loses the enclosure.
The rainbow has to run the length
The feathers step through the spectrum along the tunnel, so the colour changes as you walk, which is what gives the piece its name and its shareability. The hard part is keeping the gradient even over the full length: every feather is dyed to a position in the sequence, and a single misstep breaks the run. We lay the order out before manufacture and check it against the lit sample, because a gradient that jumps reads as a mistake rather than a rainbow. The feather edges are lit so the colour reads on the silk even with the festival's own lighting washing the structure.
Why oversized feathers, not panels
The feathers are shaped wirework standing proud of a light arch frame, not flat printed panels, because a flat tunnel has no shadow and no sense of movement as you pass. Oversized scale is what lets a visitor walk beneath a single feather and feel the size, which is the photo moment the piece is built for. Each feather is braced where it meets the arch so wind along the corridor cannot twist it, and the tips are kept clear of head height by a margin set to your local crowd profile.
Length, width and what the buyer sets
The tunnel length and the walking width are set to your route rather than to a fixed module, because a short entrance feature and a long promenade tunnel need different feather counts and arch spacing. The colour sequence and the direction it runs are set in the quotation, and the show can be re-tuned after delivery. We confirm the available path width and the headroom before manufacture, since the arch radius and the feather stand-off both depend on how much space you can give the corridor.
