Motion you feel before you see
The Fire-Breathing Animatronic Dragon is built on the XL-MO motion platform, where the head sweeps, the jaw opens and closes, and the chest rises and falls on a breathing cycle driven by motor and linkage. The point of the motion is that a visitor hears and sees the piece move before they reach it, which holds a crowd at a fixed point far longer than a static figure. The breathing chest is the subtle part: a slow rise and fall reads as a living animal, while a fast cycle reads as a machine, so the speed is tuned to the distance people view from.
The breath is light, not flame
The fire breath is a lighting effect from the open jaw rather than a real flame, because a lantern in a public crowd has to stay safe and certifiable wherever it ships. A burst of warm glow pulses from the throat on the jaw-open beat, timed to the sound module so the roar and the light land together. Building this means sealing the light source inside the head where the jaw articulation will not pinch the wiring, which is why the head is cabled as a separate service loop from the body.
What is hard to keep reliable outdoors
An animatronic piece fails at the joints: the jaw linkage, the head sweep bearing and the chest pivot all move thousands of times an evening, so each is IP-rated and built to be swapped without stripping the body. The motion controller runs on 24V DC with the show programme stored on board, and the whole piece draws its main supply from 110/220V AC 50/60Hz input through a sealed cabinet. The hard part for the buyer is giving the piece a dry, accessible cabinet location, because the motion gear must be serviced without taking the dragon down.
Most of what a venue arranges for this piece happens before delivery rather than on installation day. The cabinet position has to be dry and reachable, because the motion gear is serviced in place rather than by taking the dragon down, and the published 110/220V AC 50/60Hz supply has to reach it. We confirm that supply and the service access point before manufacture, and the head sweep arc, breathing speed and sound level are set to your venue and noise rules in the quotation, with re-tuning available after delivery through the controller.
Programme, sound and what the buyer sets
The motion sequence, the breath timing and the sound level are all set in the quotation to your site and your noise rules, because a mall atrium and an open festival field need very different volumes and cycles. The head sweep arc and the breathing speed follow from how close visitors stand. We confirm the available power and a service access point before manufacture, and the show can be re-tuned after delivery through the controller.
