Zoo Night Trail
Case study overview
A regional zoo turned its quietest season into its most profitable, without building a single permanent structure. Here is the story, from brief to switch-on.
Off-season underperformance
The zoo's winter attendance was less than 30% of summer peak. The team needed a night attraction that would draw families after dark, without heavy fixed infrastructure or a large capital budget.
A walkable lantern trail
We delivered a 1.2 km trail of large-scale animal lantern scenes, species matched to the zoo's collection, engineered for winter weather and crowd flow, installed and tested in 18 days.
A recurring seasonal anchor
Night attendance rose 40% above forecast, average dwell time reached 3.5 hours, and the trail was renewed for a second season. Visitor photography became an important source of organic awareness through the season.

From workshop to opening night
The numbers above say what was delivered. These three sections say how a build of this scale is fabricated, how it leaves Zigong and who puts it up. The workshop and export photography below documents our standard production process, not the site of this project.
Manufacturing
Large lantern installations of this type move through steel-frame fabrication, electrical integration, fabric covering and hand painting in our own workshop in Zigong. The 24 scenes on this trail were built on galvanised Q235 steel armatures, covered in fire-retardant silk and lit with IP65-rated low-voltage LED, the specification recorded in the table above.

Logistics
This project shipped in three 40 ft containers, DDP to the destination port. Large lantern structures are designed around transport constraints so sections can be packed, shipped and reassembled on site. Container-ready export crating, the documentation pack for customs and a spare-part kit are part of the same delivery step.

Installation
We hold no installation photograph from this site, so none is published here. The installation record is the delivery data itself: ground anchoring for the 8 Beaufort wind rating, power distribution across six RCD-protected junction boxes, and a full lighting test before the trail was handed over.
Text evidence only. We hold no installation photograph from this project, and we do not substitute another site's picture for it.
